Well it was announced this week by a senator that an unclassified document shows that there were indeed WMD’s (Weapons of Mass Destruction) in Iraq, but wait a minute lets take a closer look and see what is really going on. In a report the following is an excerpt:

According to The Washington Post, Representative Peter Hoekstra, chairman of the House intelligence committee and Senator Rick Santorum made the announcement, based on an unclassified summary from a report by the National Ground Intelligence Center regarding 500 chemical munitions shells that had been buried near the Iranian border.

“We have found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, chemical weapons,” Santorum said. Reading from the report, Santorum added, “Since 2003, coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons munitions which contain degraded mustard or sarin nerve agent. Despite many efforts to locate and destroy Iraq’s pre-Gulf War chemical munitions, filled and unfilled pre-Gulf War chemical munitions are assessed to still exist.”

Of course, most of those weapons were buried by Iraqi troops during their eight-year war with Iran — which ended in 1988 — and were long forgotten.

Now I dont know about you but when the President, Secretary Powell and Dick “Shotgun” Cheney were talking about the imminent threat of WMD’s I envisioned rockets ready to launch with deadly nerve agents. Sarin, Mustard and what ever else qualifies as WMD’s not degraded munitions buried before the first Gulf War. Wow lets see umm the first Gulf war what was going on then well it was August of 1990 so 2pac and Biggie were still alive and relativly unknown. The bulls had just won Michael Jordans first Championship GW senior was the President, the top grossing movie was “Home Alone” I think you get my point these weapons are so old there is no way that they were really saying that we needed to be concerned about them in 2003. Were they?
