I first remember hearing Amy Whinehouse on an ad for Target. It was playing her music and talking about her coming to the US. It caused me to search for her on the net and I was immediately hooked. She had the style of American soul artist that I grew up listening to my mom and dad play around the house (we are from Detroit after all). I even went back to check out her first release “Frank” which I throughly enjoyed as well. I was sad when she fell into substance abuse not just for the fact that it would delay new music but also because of how destructive it can be. With the news of her death at 27 I see that she has paid the ultimate price!
