There has been allot of debate lately as to whether the U.S. should be involved in torturing terrorist suspects. I guess there are a  few issues in my mind that would give me pause. I know how I felt on 9/11 and I hope to never feel that way again, I also know that after wards I felt an overwhelming sense of anger and at that point anything you wanted to do to a terrorists was ok with me and probably most of the country. But when you come back to reality isn’t our belief that morally torture is wrong what separates us from the terrorists. That a life is valuable and showing compassion is what makes America great. We are supposed to be the knight in shining armor, the defender of the downtrodden, the champion of freedom. If we resort to torture then are we not just as bad as those we denounce. Some may say ‘Well that is why we have humane torture” but can torture ever be humane? Not mention what if you torture someone or humanely torture someone and they have nothing to offer, is it just “Oh well sorry about that lets let you go on your way hope there are no bad feelings”. I in no way have all the answers but I think we can fight the war on terror without using torture or humane torture. Take a look at the video of Radio Host Mancow who defends torture, he set out to prove that water boarding is not all that bad!
